Europe: Portugal 1.0

Finally the semester break is here. For me to blog and catch up with college work.
My summer vacation entries!
Starting off with Lisbon, Portugal....

So what would you expect to see/visit first in Lisbon? It was really out of my expectations to be visiting this place and I bet no one will guess it right. First stop: Policia de Seguranca Publica - the Police Station.
The blur sister, Casey had her blackberry going missing on the aerobus from Lisbon Airport to Rossio. The lucky thing was, a policeman was on the same bus too. He was already eyeing on the suspect and managed to help us get that pick-pocket-ed phone back.

But almost 3 hours of our precious time was wasted. Need to make police report and so many procedures... Especially when not all the police officer can speak English, or can't speak well. But they're so friendly. They even offer to give us a lift to our hostel. In a police car. There were people who stared at us going into the car and on the road as well. Considered it as an unique and cool experience though ;)

Thx for the ride!

Can't afford to lose anymore time. So headed out to start our journey in Portugal. Basically i know nothing much about the places I visited. At least I know the names (most of them) and I know it's like must-go attractions. Just for the sake of capturing some hopefully nice shots with the famous buildings

This post is mainly on sights and foodies around Belem. We took Tram 15 from Rossio and stopped just in front of Jeronimos Monastery, quite easy. Get down and start walking....

Love how blue and clear the sky is <3

No idea what i was looking at

Walls ice-cream known as OLA in Portugal. That gigantic speaker lol

Devils & Angels Cornetto

Definitely happy to have ice cream on that hot day

Torre de Belem / Belem Tower

After all this boring buildings, there has to be something rewarding right?
Something that couldn't be missed in Lisbon, the famous pastry coffee house... Pasteis de Belem!

Look at the crowd!

The queue!

The shop must be really small I thought. And worrying about how long we might need to wait for a table. But when i went into the seating area I was in shock. Basically it's like a maze inside and it's actually a very big and spacious place.

There should be at least 100 tables coz beside this hall-like area, there's still other seating areas. I can't imagine how much they're earning per day per hour even per minute!

Coffee goes well with the pastries. Beer as well *hehe*

World-famed pasteis de nata, Portuguese egg tarts. Custard pastries served piping hot and fresh

A new method I've learnt. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder on it. Absolutely lovely!

Everytime I go to Macau, I would crave for these Portuguese egg tarts. I can't find any nice ones in KL. But after having these from Lisbon, Macau's one is nothing compared to it. The ones here are just extraordinary yummy, not just any Portuguese egg tart in Lisbon. I meant only the ones from Pasteis de Belem.

Tosta Mista Pao Saloio. I think it's Ham & Cheese toast. Just ordinary good.

Freshly baked at the same place.

Best Pasteis de Nata served here!

Just beware that your taste buds might become so picky on Portuguese egg tarts, just like mine. Coz no other egg tarts seemed to please them now wtf. Btw it's 1.05 euros each for the pastry, but worth it.

And not to forget, must go and take picture at the park opposite to this pastry house. Beautiful trees and scenery there. And do check what time the next tram comes, so you won't miss the tram while snapping photos! Don't be like me, yelling and running to the tram, plus only managed to take one fast snap :(

Why must my head be at it's weirdest angle when the background is so stunning?!
Blame the tram blame the photographer grr....

Promise to be hardworking...
Portugal 1.1 will be up soon
